NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Florida/USA (Tuesday, March 29, 2011) – Defending ASP North America Pro Junior Series Champion Evan Geiselman (New Smyrna Beach, FL), 17, will be the top seed entering stop No. 4 on the ASP North America Pro Junior Series, the ASP 1-Star DNA Energy Pro Junior, which will hit his home break of New Smyrna Beach Inlet from March 31 through April 3, 2011.
Surfers competing in the ASP 1-Star Pro Junior event are looking to establish themselves on the ASP North America Pro Junior series to eventually qualify for the prestigious ASP World Junior Tour.
Geiselman, who spends the majority of his competitive year traveling the nation to earn the vital points towards his regional ranking, is looking forward to the benefits of surfing an event in his backyard.
“I’m really excited for this event,” Geiselman said. “I’ve got my friends like Luke Davis and Ian Crane staying at my house and it’s going to be fun having everyone here and surfing a contest at home.”
Geiselman, who finished equal 7th place in ASP 4-Star Vans Pro Junior, is looking to capitalize on his familiarity of New Smyrna Beach Inlet to clinch his first contest win of 2011.
“I’m disappointed in how I surfed in Huntington,” Geiselman said. “I felt like I surfed poorly the entire event and I’m looking to use this event to surf as many heats as I can. I’m hoping to get back into the contest mindset and hopefully I can take this one out.”
Other top seeds in the upcoming DNA Energy Pro Junior include California talent Luke Davis (Capistrano Beach, CA), 18, Ian Crane (San Clemente, CA), 18, and Evan Thompson (Jacksonville, FL), 19.
