ABOUT GRAIN
Grain Surfboards builds wooden boards intended to last a lifetime. At their shop in rural Maine, the Grain crew have evolved a proven wood construction method pioneered by surf legend Tom Blake by applying advanced materials technology and environment-friendly components. Grain’s boards are a natural blend of this traditional construction style with New England boat building craftsmanship and modern surfboard shapes.

ABOUT THE BOARDS The beauty of Grain Surfboards lies in the blend of local softwoods and the artful patterns naturally produced by the growth of the wood itself.
Construction
Built of Maine-grown white cedar on a rugged, lightweight internal frame, Grain’s boards are fully structural before they’re even glassed - which means that a heavily-used Grain Surfboard will never show pressure dings and doesn’t stress-crack. They’ll surf and look as good years from now as they do when they first hit the water. There are no veneers or foam used in Grain boards. We use zero-VOC epoxy with fiberglass or bamboo cloth to protect the board for years to come.
Why Wood?
Wood boards feel different. While they may feel slightly heavier on land, in the water that weight converts entirely to momentum. More momentum means they paddle great, dampen chop, build speed easily and - with their additional speed - maneuver handily. A well-built wooden board feels strong and solid underfoot, and provides the smoothest most graceful glide going. Strengthen your connection with wood and water each time you paddle out.
